  The Jefferson Parish Public School System and its offices will close two hours early on Tuesday, February 9, so that students, teachers, administrators, and employees can celebrate with the New Orleans Saints and their Super Bowl victory at a

Rex Parade Website Projects

Mrs. Gilson, Mrs. Caminita, and Technology Integration Specialist, Ms. Ellen Lyon, collaborated with students in Mrs. Gilson's 2nd period class to create "glogs" using the technology program Glogster.  The students work will be placed on the Rex Parade website .  Click on the picture below to view students' work!

Gretna Middle School Teacher of the Year Announced
Gretna Middle is pleased to announce its 2009-2010 teacher of the year, Mrs. Jennifer Price.  Mrs. Price has been teaching for eleven years.  She taught at Gretna Middle in 1998 and returned in 2007.  She currently teaches 6th, 7th, & 8th grade Special Education.  Congratulations!

Gretna Middle School Library Receives $25,000 grant from Laura Bush Foundation & $5,000 grant from American Library Association (ALA)

At a private ceremony on January 22, Mrs. Caminita, GMS Librarian, Mrs. Dozier, GMS Principal, and eighth-grade student, Alexis Adams, met with former first lady,  Laura Bush, to secure a $25,000 grant for the school library.  The ceremony was held at John McDonough Senior High School in New Orleans.  The grant money will be used to restore books lost during Hurricane Katrina.  Also, on Jan. 29, Mrs. Caminita was notified that the library was receiving $5000 for the library.  The money will also be used to purchase books lost during the storm.

Gretna Middle School receives SACS Accreditation

Gretna Middle School along with all of the other schools within Jefferson Parish recently was awarded SACS Accreditation.  Teachers and students from Gretna Middle were interviewed last week as part of the accreditation process.
