Leona Tate visited Gretna Middle School students on Tuesday to talk about her experience during the Civil Rights Movement.  Named "The McDonough Three", she was one of the first students to integrate the New Orleans Public School System along with two other students, Tessie Prevost and Gail Etienne.  This visit was made possible by a grant with the Smithsonian Museum.  Ms. Caminita (Library Media Specialist) & Ms. Phillips (ELA Teacher) and her sixth period class are collaborating on the project  with the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, D.C.    Students final projects consist of creating artwork, poetry, and a verbal podcast which will be placed within the Smithsonian Museum and on the Museum's website.
